Announcing the Occasional Przedbórz Website Awards For Improvements to www.prz.ginsburgs.org

Background
This www.prz.ginsburgs.org website is devoted to

While producing this project has been tremendously educational and entertaining, I had expected to receive more suggestions, corrections, and information, especially since most of the reference material is in Polish or German, neither of which I can read or understand. Many people have helped, but more is needed. (See the open questions list, for example.)

In an effort to encourage more people to contribute information, scans, suggestions, etc., I have instituted these Occasional Przedbórz Website Awards.

The awards originally were in two categories, which were combined starting with the fourth award:

  1. The “Suggestion Box” (or “Constructive Criticism”) award for suggesting improvements to the site appearance and usability. Nominees may suggest more in-depth discussion of some aspect of Przedbórz philately or history, or improvements in navigation, graphics, appearance, etc.
  2. The “Content” award for answering questions, providing translations, scans, links, leads, permissions, etc. to information related to the content of the site.

First Awards: (November 14, 2007 through June 19, 2008)
Suggestion Box Award: There were three nominees in this category: Chris Kulpinski, Edo Amin, and the winner, Hank Bieniecki of Bieniecki International, Inc., who among other things, pushed for more coverage of Przedbˇrz issues or sets, a clearer introduction to the Identifier section, and an explanation of Issues 6-8 (which started an entire new research project, still in process two months later.) Mr. Bieniecki provided the vast majority of suggestions, complaints, etc. received by the site’s designer.

Content Award: There were numerous nominees, listed here in alphabetical order by last name: Ron Barany, Paolo Berentzen, Helmut Blaschczyk, Adam (Zbigniew) Chojczak, Tomas Frank, Michael Lenke, Joseph Matlak, Marek Misztal, Detlef Pfieffer, Roman Sobus, Fried Wittman, Jerry Zedlitz, and the winner, Hank Bieniecki, who provided 46 “preview” scans of Stanley Kronenberg’s Przedbˇrz reference collection which he later posted to the Polonus Philatelic Society's website, as well as loans of various other items. Kronenberg’s collection is a major contribution to English-language Przedbˇrz philately, and I am honored to have access to the scans. As a result, www.prz.ginsburgs.org will be substantially improved and expanded.

Second Awards: (June 20, 2008 through August 19, 2009)
Nominees:

Suggestion Box Award Nominees: (These were carried over in the hopes we get some more nominees.) Content Award Nominees: The award is a donation to Rossica in honor of Rossica members and award winners Gary Combs, Leon Finik, John Lechtanski, Jeff Radcliffe and David Skipton, all listed above.

Note: from now on there will be only one award category: the Suggestion Box and Content Awards will be merged so that there will only be one Przedbórz website award; or I may change the categories.
